Richard lived in Laguna Beach for 64 years. He first moved to Bluebird Canyon in 1962 to start a family. After relocating within Laguna several times, the family settled in North Laguna in 1970. He passed peacefully on April 4th, at 1:15PM, at the home he loved, surrounded by family.

The third of five kids, Richard was born July 20, 1931 in Bunslau, Germany. During WWII the family was refugeed as result of the Russian advance and walked for weeks to Czechoslovakia and eventually, Munich where they settled. Richard started learning Engineering in post High school apprenticeship working for a maker of large clocks. He was sponsored by an American Tile company based in Illinois and immigrated in 1950 taking a job as drafting Engineer. He loved to draw. He later worked as engineer at Elgin Watch designing tools to make watches.

In 1955 now an American citizen, he was drafted into the US Army. The Army immediately recognized his engineering skills and he spent time at Army school of engineering in Fort Belvoir Virginia. In 1957 after an honorable discharge, he moved west. After working in Burbank at Babcock in various engineering positions, he and his business partner Bill Juptner, set out on their own to form PARELCO, Pacific Relay Company. After they determined, too many challenges existed starting a business in LA they were among the first manufacturing sites in San Jaun Capistrano on Via Aeropuerto. They were very innovative, had many engineering firsts and were acquired by Potter and Brumfield in 1969. While mostly replaced by Semiconductors, some of those specialized Relay parts are still produced today. In 1960 he was Married to his "Arabian beauty", Lyla whose family were refugees from Lebanon.

After selling PARELCO to a larger competitor, Richard decided to follow another of his true passions and became an artist. He experimented as a sculptor, carving marble statues, and manufacturer of various artistic objects cast in pewter but focused on oil painting. For the next 20 years he exhibited at the Festival of Arts, Art-A-Fair, as well as various galleries in town. His art skills were built on his ability to draw combined with engineering talents. His Oil painting style was very precise and detailed. Throughout, Richard never stopped learning, becoming an expert who converted from drafting by hand to computerized Autocad software, leading him back to engineering work.

In 1988, Richard returned to the engineering world taking several consultant jobs. In 1992 he met Pat Quilter at QSC Audio, initially helping the company to streamline and ramp up the manufacturing in Fountain Valley location. He ended up working at QSC for almost 25 years until he retired in 2017.

Dad, Husband, Grand Papa, and Great Grand Papa was a kind, modest, humble, patient, gentleman. He was a successful Businessman, Partner, Entrepreneur, Engineer, and Artist. He loved the Mountains, Skiing, Sailing, Tennis and games with friends and family. He loved to make kids laugh with unforgettable "Donald Duck voice"

Richard pre deceased by his wife, Lyla is survived by his daughter Annamarie, son Rick and his wife Kristine, his grandkids Andrea and Derek and his wife Lindsey, and great granddaughter Gracie.

Starting with nothing but a dream, he came to a foreign place alone, became an American Patriot and his life was the epitome of the American Dream! His advice to young people would be if the opportunity arises to make a difference and set out on your own "Go for it".
