Vicki Joanne Hanna
Vicki Joanne Hanna Obituary
Laguna Beach, CA - Vicki Joanne Hanna, age 74, passed into Heaven peacefully on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2025, at 10:45AM. She took her last breath with her daughter Summer Arambarri, son James Hanna, and Father George (from St. Catherine's) praying over her.
Vicki was born on February 28, 1951, in Cuyahoga Falls, near Cleveland, Ohio to parents Joyce Kathleen McKinney and Robert James Moore. Vicki was the youngest of the Moore children, with her brother Ron being four years her senior and her sister Debby preceding her by 2 years. Vicki "sparkled" as a little girl, she loved playing dolls and trying to keep up with Ron and Debby. At age 8, she moved with her family to Fullerton, California, where she would set lifelong roots in California.
Vicki graduated from Sunny Hills High School with the Class of 1969. After school and college, Vicki went into Respiratory Therapy and worked at Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach. One of her favorite stories was having John Wayne as her patient and retelling how she asked "Mr. Wayne, are you ready for your procedure?" to which Mr. Wayne replied "Honey, I was born ready". It was in the medical profession that Vicki met her husband of 16 years John Hanna, who was moonlighting in the emergency room. He and Vicki dated off and on for many years across California and Florida before eventually getting married at St Catherines in Laguna Beach on Oct 11, 1975.
A few years into marriage, Vicki and John welcomed their first child, Summer, into the world (1978) - and only 18 months later, they were blessed with a son James (1980). Summer and Jimmy quickly became Vicki's purpose - and her pride and joy. Her family outgrew their house in Bluebird Canyon and moved to Laguna Niguel, where they lived from 1983 through 1994. Vicki loved her home in Kite Hill, watching her children grow up in cul-de-sac suburbia, where the entire family made life-long friends. During that time, Vicki's sister, Deborah Moore Manning married Dirk Manning and had two daughters, Allison (1985) and Lindsey (1988). Vicki loved spending time with her sister Debby and mother Joyce - and bringing all the children together.
While Summer and Jimmy were in high school, Vicki opened a catering business, while also working at restaurants in Laguna (A La Carte) and Newport Beach (Chimayo). She loved being around people and showing love through her cooking.
Vicki's personality was described by her children as "One of a kind". She valued the quality of her connections - and was very selective in choosing who to spend her time with. For the few that Vicki did welcome into her circle, she showered them with love and attention. Vicki had a way of making people feel special - whether it was listening to their stories, laughing at their jokes, asking them questions that showed that she paid attention to their lives, or just going out of her way to be helpful to them.
Vicki's favorite things included (in no particular order) - loving her family (she beamed with pride for her 4 grandchildren). She loved her dachshunds - Bogey, Riley, Marley, Otto. Her Montage walks. Flowers, particularly roses, lilies, and orchids. Mornings. Reading the newspaper. The Rose Parade. The Boat Parade. Clean sheets. Taking "the coast". Cooking (especially her famous guacamole and tacos).
Vicki is preceded in death by her beloved mother, Joyce Kathleen McKinney (2017), and her father, Robert "Bob" James Moore (1989), as well as her brother Ron James Moore.
She is survived by her beloved children: her daughter, Summer Arambarri (47), and her husband Nick Arambarri, and their children Callie (16) and David (14); and her son, James Hanna III (45), and his children Jane (5) and George (3). And her husband of 16 years, John E. Hanna, MD.
She is also survived by her sister, Deborah Moore Manning, and her husband Dirk Manning; their children Allison and Lindsey. Allison is married to Cyrus, and Lindsey is married to Saman Djabbari; Lindsey and Saman are the parents of Nolan and Rumi.
Vicki will be remembered for her loving spirit and her unwavering devotion to her family. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
